Faith In The Father

by Brenda Farmer

Jesus was very clear that He was sent to earth to do the Will of The Father:

John 5:30 (NLT)  I can do nothing on my own. I judge as God tells me. Therefore, my judgment is just, because I carry out the will of the one who sent me, not my own will.

Jesus is noted for doing the unexpected to accomplish God’s Will for His Life.  For example, Luke 4:39 tells about Jesus going to Simon Peter’s home where his mother-in-law was ill with fever.  Luke writes that Jesus “spoke” to the fever, rebuked it, and the fever immediately left her!

Luke also writes in 5:12, 13 about a man who had an advanced case of leprosy, and he wanted Jesus to heal him.  Jesus reached out and “touched” him, and the leprosy instantly disappeared!

My nursing background has clearly taught me to not contaminate clean with dirty.  Anyone who willingly touches one with open, infected lesions from leprosy would be asking to become infected themselves.  I would be very afraid to do that.  I am thinking that I would rather “touch” the fever and “speak” to the leprosy…But not Jesus!  He does the unexpected!

Jesus had faith in His Father.  His Father is Jehovah Rophe, “The Lord Heals”.  What belongs to The Father, belongs to His Son, Jesus.  Jesus had incredible faith in His Father.  He knew His Father was not going to leave Him on His own!

On the flip side, Jesus did not heal many of those who lived in His hometown of Nazareth because of their unbelief (Matthew 13:57, 58 ).  They lacked faith in Jesus being the Son of God.  In both of the situations described in Luke, the people with Peter’s mother-in-law and the man with leprosy “besought” (KJV) Jesus to heal them.  The definition of besought is:  to beg eagerly; to implore urgently.  The people knew Jesus was able to heal, and they revealed their faith in Him by urging Him to heal them.

Today, I encourage you to have faith in God and receive His Holy gifts of salvation, healing and deliverance, in The Name of His Son, Jesus.

Be Blessed with courage and wisdom to do the unexpected for the Glory of God,

just as Jesus did.
